Research: Costumes, setting and location

This is the first video that I have analysed. It is by an American rock band named Kings of Leon, the name of the song is Sex on fire. I have analysed the song using a website named thinglink.

This is the second video that I have analysed. It is by an American hiphop/Rnb artist named Drake, the name of the song is Started from the bottom. I have analysed the song using a website named thinglink.

This is the third video that I have analysed. It is by an American pop artist named Beyoncè, the name of the song is Countdown. I have analysed the song using a website named thinglink.

  •         I noticed that amount of costumes used in videos depends on the genre of the song because the costumes vary. For example in Pop or Rnb videos there is a lot of costumes unlike in Rock videos which one or no change of costume.
  •            The differences between the genres and the amount of style of the costumes are they are more expensive and higher end in pop and Rnb whereas they are more casual and affordable clothing in rock.
  •       In Rnb the location and setting is often shot in parties and expensive houses with beautiful scenery, however in pop videos the locations and settings are often inside in studios or settings where dance routines can be carried out. Then in rock videos the locations are often in warehouses or settings with dark lighting.
  •     There is a great significant in the use of props in the genres that I have analysed because without the props the audience wouldn’t analyse the genre or they wouldn’t feel any visual pleasure without certain props. For example in rock if the band didn’t have their instruments then the audience wouldn’t be used to this and probably won’t feel any visual pleasure, the same with Rnb with fast cars and jewelry and pop with dancers and high fashion clothing.
