In
todays lessons we made a storyboard that included different shot types,
locations and movements for our rough music video. However once we finished
doing our plan we were told that music videos don’t often start with a linier
shot therefore we had rethink the plan. After rethinking we then decided to add
two establish shots at the start of the video. We then went out to film our
shots. The roles that we decided to take on were: Shenay performing for the
song, Rojal filming the shots and I was directing. While filming we went to a
variety of different locations that we though linked with the genre of the song
that we chose. Two examples of the locations we used were the college (to take
a shot of our performer singing on the ground) and the park (to take a shot of
our performer singing on a park bench). Throughout the filming we tried to used
the fig-rig as much as possible so that we had a lot of movement in our shots,
but as well as the fig-rig we also used the tripod to take the shot of the
time-lapse shot for our establishing shot. Overall it was a very successful lesson,
although we had to re-take a few shots because people interrupted the shot. Nevertheless
we got a lot of footage done for the music video, worked well as a team and taken photos as evidence for our filming. Next lessons we will start editing our video and start thinking
about different editing techniques that are typical to the genre of the song
that we could use.
