Filming: day 4 audience feedback

We decided to ask our intended audience what they think of the fast cuts we want to do. We made a gif with still images to give and example of how we would do it. Rojal posted it on his Instragram account (@rojalmyers) and asked his followers what they thought about it.

Filming: Day 4

Here is an example of how we will do the fast cuts. We took still shots of Shenaya in different positions and then I turned it into a GIF to show an example a the cuts we may do.

Production of Music Video: Day four!

Shooting in Mile End (and the freezing cold!). Hopefully this should be the end of the base tracks until we get back to college!

Filming: Day 3 problem solving

As Kadija had to attend a University open day yesterday, the filming was left to me and Shenaya. It was difficult as we had so much equipment and we couldn't leave it unattended as it could have been stolen. Shenaya came up with an idea for a shot we can use with the tripod by having it in a fix position in front of the stairs and we do several base tracks in different position so that there's quick cuts to make it more appealing.

Production of Music Video: Reflection of Day 3

Successful day today! Filmed several base tracks (as planned) and time lapses too. Now, a well deserved cup of tea and watching the football! #halamadrid :) ☕

Production of music video: Day three & four

Filming: Day 3

Today we filmed in an estate in Barbican. We filmed based tracks in the underground car park, dancing shots for special effects, base tracks and a time lapse.

Production of Music Video: Day Three of video shoot!

So, today is the first day of the video shoot at Barbican! Gonna be filming loads of base tracks and album covers! Hopefully I don't get sick of the song by tonight....
Don't forget to follow our instagram account and Twitter account!!

Filming: Day 2

Today we done filming at Stratford Centre to film the skateboarders do tricks that we're going to use for slow motion. It was tricky to get a tracking shot so we asked Fabio (right side of image) to film some of the tracking shots so that there's a lot of movement within the shot. There was some problems when shooting as there was a lot of people around and skaters meaning there was a high possibility of someone getting hurt.

Production of music video: Day one & two

Filming: Day 1

Today was the first day of filming, We started with the argument scenes in Kadija's house with the help of her cousin Terrayne. next we went to the olympic park to do a base track and shots for slow motion, as well as time lapse. After we went to Bow fly over to do a time lapse of a traffic.

Production of music video: Skills development

The way I approached planning this production is very different compared to my AS production work. The reasons why I say this is because in my previous production planning I don’t think I carried out as much research as I did for this production of work and I didn’t find much influence from previous videos that related to my work. However for this production I have done various researches that has helped me gain knowledge as well as ideas for my work. Secondly in my previous production planning not much effort was put into the storyboard, however for this production my group and I have put a lot of time in planning the storyboard. Lastly, I think the extra research that I have carried out for this production has helped me include many ideas that would help make the video be visually appealing to the audience. However I don’t feel that a lot of research was put in to make the video appealing to the set audience in my previous production.

Planning: Post test shots & footage

In our music video we decided to have an argument scene where Shenaya is arguing with her boyfriend. We had to find a suitable male performer that would suit what we're trying to do. In the end we decied to use Kadija's cousin Terrayne. He will also be dress in black so that he stands out more in the argument scene.

We also wanted to have skateboarders in the video for some slow motion shots. I decided to ask my friend Fabio and his crew if they could be part of our video and they said yes. These shots will be taken place in Stratford shopping centre.

Below are photos of the peformers & actor.

Reflection on Pitch

Reflection on pitch

Pitch: Reflection

From our peers and our teacher we received feedback on our pitch.

Positives:

  • Concept of the video was clear.
  • A lot of different technologies used.
  • Interviewing the target audience was effective.
  • Showed our music influences instead of just saying it.
  • Locations we've chosen is suited to the genre.
  • Digipack was very strong and suited the genre.
  • Good use of the preliminary video to show the effects we'll use for post production.

Negatives/Improvements:

  • Make the storyline to the video much clearer
  • talk about what shots we will use
  • Keep it simple by not adding too much
  • Minor adjustments to the digipak

We also done our own questionnaire about the pitch and these are the results.

From the feedback we noticed that our peers really liked the Digipak that was created by Kadija mostly because of the font that was used. Therefore we have decided to use this font in our final Digipak because it also links with the genre of the song, that we have chosen. Our final decision for the Digipak will be a photograph of the artist in the foreground and cars passing in the background. The photo will be a long exposure shot so the cars will be a blur. We will be making sure that we stick to the black & white theme so the photo will be in a black and white effect. The font that we use will be used throughout all our promotional packaging.

Planning: Reflection on progress

From my reflection on progress for my planning I think that I have progressed because I have managed to improve on a few things that I have pointed out. For example I thought that I should improve on the amount of blogs that I have with my group and this has been done because we now have a lot more group blogs due to the pitch. Secondly I thought that I should create blogs for every lesson that I go to.
However I have completely completed my improvements as I haven’t spoken about things that I could have improved on in lesson and I haven’t made any extra blogs for external research that relates to the topics that I have been learning in lessons. Out of 20 I would give myself a 17 due to me keeping up with my blogs, completing them to the best of my ability and using as many suitable technology for my blogs.

Improvements:
  • Create more blogs that relates to the topic – external research.
  • Comment on my progression or improvement that could be made in my ‘Todays lesson’ blogs.
  •  Try and find other technologies for my blog posts.

Planning: Evaluation on questions

Pitch: Evaluation - Shenaya

When it comes to the evaluation, I have given a lot of thought about what technologies and how I am going to tackle the four evaluation questions:

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For this question, I will use Camtasia to compare how our music video to the original track's music video using split screen. I will also Camtasia (with a voiceover on top) to describe our ancillary products with annotations.

2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

This is when I will use questionnaires (such as surveymonkey.com), asking our audience questions about whether it appeals to them, whether it is a good combination of them and whether they are fans of the genre in order to gain some audience feedback about our main product and ancillary texts. From here, I will create a pie chart and embed it into the blog, explain the results that I found.

3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?

In order to break up the text on my blog, I will answer this question in a vlog style, talking about the results I found in the previous question and talk about how I would change our products if I had the chance to.

4) How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?

For the last question, because there are different parts of the question, I thought by using Prezi, I could incorporate all the questions without making the blog look busy and untidy. In the Prezi, I will use screenshots of our products and add links to old blog posts for evidence.

Pitch: Questionnaire - Kadija

We have chosen to create a questionnaire that we will carry out once we have presented our pitch. We have chosen to create a questionnaire because we thought that it would help us evaluate our feedback.

Reflection On Progress

When i previously reflected on my progress I talked about how i'll improve by using more technologies to present my work, keep up to date and be more analytical about the videos. Since then I feel that I've achieve the targets that I set myself. I thought about how I could make my blog posts something worth looking at but also making it relevant to the question or section of the pitch that I done.

Out of 20 i would give myself 18 because I feel there is still more technologies I could use such as Powtoon or Emaze to present my work with. I feel that I explain the work well but I will find not to over complicate my thought process.

To improve
  • Don't over complicate
  • Use a variety of technologies

Evaluation Questions

When it comes to the evaluation questions I will use different technologies which is suitable to the question to make sure that it is relevant. Getting feedback from my intended target audience is important to find out how successful the music video was and what they feel we should have done if they didn't find the video appealing. I will do this by creating a video with the thorough explanation of analysis to reflect where my group and I went right or wrong.

Pitch: Risk Assessment - Rojal

Pitch: Post production - Kadija

Below is the video that we made for the effects that we will be using:

Pitch: Social media - Kadija

It is important to have social networking when you are an artist or band because it helps for promotion and it helps the band/artist communicate with their audience. Also they can keep the audience updated. From research I have figured out that a lot of the things that artists/bands post on social networking relates to their music and hyperlinks that link to other social networking sites.

For my group I have created an Instagram page and a twitter account. These accounts will be used to post evidence of filming and any other things that we’re working on. Below is the evidence of the Instagram and Twitter page.
