Pitch- Andrew Goodwin's Theory- Rojal

For our music video we based it on Andrew Goodwin's three points which are:

  • The artist tends to be the performer and the narrator so us as the audience know that the artist  has gone through the situation.  As well as this the artist will look directly at the artist as if their singing directly to the person viewing it to make them feel part of the experience.
  • The beat of the song usually has some sort of repetition so as we listen to music of that genre again and again we gradually build expectations from a particular artist.
  • Most videos tend to have some sort of closure or ending to go with it so the audience is second guessing what is going to happen next etc. As the video goes by it builds a climax of visual pleasure with repetitive shots, and sometimes a story line that people can relate to.
  • A music video tells the story  of the song. It helps visualise what the artist is singing as your seeing it.
We decided that we want to incorporate each of these points in the music video in a way that makes you want to watch it again and again. Having a catchy track compliments what we want to do. We've decided to have Shenaya to be the performer and the narrator in the video. As the song is about a girl having an argument with a boyfriend. The original video didn't show this so we decided to present that. The track itself is very catchy and there's a lot of repetition in the beat especially in the chorus we will replicate this with using several base tracks and constantly use them throughout the video so that there is a structure. Our video will have some sort of climax to it with some of the arguing scenes as its something people can relate to and at the same time tell a story about the arguing and some people cope with it by escape and sometimes reflect on it.
